STUDENT SERVICES
A. FOCUS:
The major focus of student services is to provide students with support in order to maintain their place in the regular class setting. However, we do have one district resource room program for students who have been identified as having very specific needs. Ms. Germain is the teacher in charge of that program.
B. TYPES OF SUPPORT:
The following types of support are available through student services here at Chief Dan George Middle School.
C. FORMS OF SUPPORT:
Support may be provided in a wide variety of ways as listed below.
D. ACCESS TO SUPPORT:
If you believe your child is having academic/learning difficulties, the first step is to talk with the child's homeroom teacher. If the problem cannot be solved and more help is indicated, the teacher will refer your child to the school based team who will try to find the best way to provide support. If the teacher felt that your child was having academic difficulties, they would of course, contact you first outlining concerns and together you would decide if more services should be considered.
If your child is having emotional difficulties, or you feel
that your child would benefit from school counseling you may call
the school directly. Susan Jones would be the contact. If you
have specific concerns re drugs and alcohol Jennifer Schlese would
be the contact person. If your child is of First Nations heritage
you would contact Jennifer Schlese.
